                 A Special View

           The Clifton Suspension Bridge


When lit up at night the bridge literally appears to hang in the sky. Being built on hills, Bristol has many stunning views. People travel from all over the world to walk across the bridge, around the city & Docks. Both were designed & built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel & completed circa 1864. Isambard was famous for speeding around the city in his office on wheels - a converted horse-drawn hearse!


A view with such a unique location, it's been painted & drawn hundreds of times. I first drew it in the 1980's & painted this in 1994.

since 1989 i've been visiting Europe, drawing & painting, making friends, having shows & adventures.

with 2 girlfriends & our children we landed in mysterious malaga. we bused deep into the countryside with loose chickens & locals who smoked & gave us oranges. we saw gyspies on horseback, a fabulous fair with elderly couples dancing, singing soldiers. deep in a bar one of us was proposed to by a young man.  we got thoroughly lost but loved every minute of it.
