As an artist, I'm interested in the behaviour & psychology of human beings & our lives - from the heights of happiness to the depths of despair - of love, joy, hate, fear. The hardest subject is the suffering of pain & death of war. In satire & humour I attempt to explore people at their best & worst, whether alone, in groups, in public or private.
Where does art come from, what is it's purpose, what is the role of the artist in society, does art reflect society? Stimulating questions but I have no answers. I'm sure that politics increasingly impacts our daily lives. I agree with Carl Jung's words - 'there's no such thing as a statistical human being', yet governments continue treating us as if we were. I value freedom of expression & question censorship. Social media gives access to art & artists like never before. And I worry that AI will make me mentally lazy.
